Understanding gesture as cause rather than display, and how physical intention shapes ensemble sound.
Module 2 — Sound in Space: BREAKING THE conducting box
Exploring spatial awareness and how sound is invited, supported, and released within physical space.
Module 3 — Listening as the Primary Skill: let the score inform you; conducting the choir in your head
Developing listening as an active, diagnostic skill that guides musical decision-making; developing the “inner ear.”
Module 4 — Gesture, Clarity, and Response
Examining how clarity (or lack of it) directly affects ensemble response, consistency, and confidence; how to balance clarity and expression. memorization = internalization.
Module 5 — Rehearsal Language That Supports Sound
Using verbal instruction sparingly and intentionally to reinforce, rather than interrupt, musical response.
Module 6 — Functional Piano and vocal modeling Skills for Conductors
Applying piano skills as a tool for clarity, orientation, and musical modeling in rehearsal.
Module 7 — Preparation as Musical Decision-Making and gestural compass
Reframing preparation as a process of deciding what response to invite before stepping on the podium; internalizing the score
Module 8 — The Professional Conductor
Integrating gesture, listening, preparation, and leadership into a sustainable professional practice.
Module 9 — Reflection and Application
Consolidating learning through reflection, articulation, and application within the conductor’s own context.
